Subject	Proper way to check engine oil level?

Message	What is the correct way to check engine oil? Do you insert the dipstick ALL the way down? Or do you only insert to the black rubber grommet? My 94 service manual does not specify how far down you insert the dipstick. I've added 3.6 quarts to my 90 TT and according to inserting the dipstick all the way it is overfilled?
